thousands of pioneers traveld west on the Oregon trail. Beverly Clearly who writes stories foe children was born here she created Ramona and Henry Huggins.

Geography:
Moutain ranges cover most of the state. Two mountain ranges are the Coastal Ranges and the Cascade Mountains. In the east there is the Columbia Plateau and a high desert.

Climate
East of the Cascades there is a dry climate. West of the Cascades it's moist and mild.
